The Siren Song of Post Production Software

On my hike last week along the Hadlock Brook stream bed, I came across several small clear pools of water.    I love how clear the water is here on MDI, and that you can actually see what’s going on in the water; insects, fish, rocks, otters, frogs, flowers, or even just enjoying the various coloration of rocks and moss all over the island.   In the picture below, I especially liked how the dappled light coming through the trees reflected off the water, creating an interesting mix of light and shadow.

Of course, not able to leave well enough alone, I decided to “play” with this image in my post production software.  I rather like the result (below).   It intrigues me to see how manipulating the image brings out certain details while muting others.    I have just enough software to be dangerous!
